Marvel 'The Avengers: Endgame' Film Review

'Avengers: Infinity War' was a bold, brave film that left audiences shocked and desperate to see revived from the *snap* of Thanos. 'Endgame', as a conclusion to not only that film alone, but the past 20+ MCU films that has formed the first three phases, has a LOT of ground to tread.

It was by no coincidence that the OG Avengers Iron Man, Captain America, Hulk, Thor, Hawkeye and Black Widow survived the snap, and the film opens with them coming to terms with their failures, mourning the loss of their loved ones and eager to #avengethefallen.

Endgame is split into three acts and boy does the film vary. Genres span from sci fi adventure to heist thriller, buddy drama and comedy. The film's mood shifts consistently from a heavy burdened gloom to one of hope and reconciliation.

Without going into much of the plot details, the film is imperfect, at times even clunky, but these shortcomings can be overlooked for the sheer scale and grandeur of the endeavor. Tying up storylines from the whole MCU and giving fans of each and every franchise references and easter eggs and cameos is the icing on the cake.

There are moments of perfection, most memorable of which is one featuring Captain America, yet again in a lift. Our packed audience erupted in laughter and clapped.

Having reflected on the events of the film for the past 24 hours, there is one treatment of a character that I (and quite a few other reviewers) am rather frustrated and annoyed at.

The climax of the film and the third act was a sheer joy to witness and a lot of fun to watch- it was slightly shortlived but by this point we were already over two and a half hours. The ending was cathartic, wrapping up many storylines for our beloved characters and leaving endless possibility for Phase 4 and beyond.

Scarlett Johansson- Black Widow
Robert Downey Jr- Iron Man
Chris Evans- Captain America
Chris Hemsworth- Thor
Mark Ruffalo- Hulk
Jeremy Renner- Hawkeye
Josh Brolin- Thanos

Paul Rudd- Ant Man
Brie Larson- Captain Marvel

Also stars pretty much every other character that has appeared in the MCU.

~~~OVERALL 9/10~~~
'Endgame' had a colossal task to hand, and the Russo brothers delivered an emotional, funny, moving and shocking finale to Marvel's first three phases. The scale of the film is epic, the script is sharp and the amount of fan service is unbelievable. This is absolutely the movie event of a generation and DO NOT miss it in the cinema - see it in IMAX if you can.
