The Oscars 2016 Red Carpet (+Results)

The awards season ended with a bang at last night's Oscars, where Alicia Vikander won her first Oscar for 'The Danish Girl'. Wearing a stunning yellow Louis Vuitton gown, Vikander is easily the best dressed last night and even the best dressed all awards season!

Despite missing out on a nomination, Mad Max's Charlize Theron never makes a fashion faux pas with her scarlet Dior gown, whilst Jared Leto makes some effort with a Gucci gown, adorned with a red flower.

Best supporting actress nominee Rachel McAdams looks great in her emerald gown and was part of the ensemble of 'Spotlight' which won best movie. Best actress went to Brie Larson for 'Room', who wears Gucci.

Despite not winning her award for 'Joy', Jennifer Lawrence looked amazing in Dior whilst Margot Robbie also wowed in Tom Ford. Unfortunately for Olivia Wilde, the Valentino dress just doesn't work and Cate Blanchett made a mistake with that Armani gown.

'The Light Between Oceans' Film Trailer Preview

The tide of Alicia Vikander continues in 2016 with the upcoming release of 'The Light Between Oceans', adapted from the novel, which sees Vikander play the wife of a lighthouse keeper (Michael Fassbender).

After a long struggle to conceive, the couple one day discover a baby adrift on a rowboat and believe it is the answer to their prayers, until they encounter the child's mother years later. Reluctant to give up the child, the couple's marriage goes into jeopardy.

The trailer looks to be another dramatic affair, with Vikander in yet another emotionally complex role (like 'The Danish Girl') and likely to gain her yet more Oscar buzz, but she can be seen in something slightly lighter over the summer in Bourne re-re-boot 'Jason Bourne'.

'The Light between Oceans' will be released this September. Check out the trailer below:

'Deadpool' Film Review

In development hell since 2004, Deadpool took 12 years to reach our cinema screens and judging from the reviews and commercial success, looks to be a solid franchise for years to come.

Ex-military Wade Wilson (Ryan Reynolds) gains self-healing powers when he undergoes an experimental program to cure his terminal cancer, in order to be with his girlfriend Vanessa (Morena Baccarin). But when he is left scarred by administrator Ajax (Ed Skrein), Wade is determined to hunt him down for the cure as Deadpool.

'Jason Bourne' Film Trailer Preview

Almost ten years ago, the 'Bourne' trilogy came to an end, and ever since fans have been eagerly anticipating a sequel. Whilst the 'Bourne Legacy' attempted to continue the franchise, it simply wasn't the same.

Despite Matt Damon and Paul Greengrass both stating they would not return for a sequel, it seems like a dramatic change of heart almost ten years later with the release of 'Jason Bourne' this Summer.

Regardless of what happened, 'Jason Bourne' looks to be the start of a new 'Bourne' franchise that sees the the agent remember his identity, but what will he do with it? Starring oscar nominated actress Alicia Vikander and Vincent Cassel as the villian, as well as returnee Julia Stiles, the film has one hot cast.

It remains to be seen whether the film will be renamed to 'The Bourne Betrayal' like the books, or remain as 'Jason Bourne', a departure from previous naming.

The film will be out this July. Check out the teaser trailer below:

'Misconduct' Film Review

Ben (Josh Duhamel), an ambitious lawyer with a struggling marriage is sucked into a world of destruction when he takes on a case against the boss of a large pharmaceutical company, Dennings (Anthony Hopkins), lured by his ex Emily (Malin Akerman) and controlled by his boss Abrams (Al Pacino).

'Misconduct' is Shintaro Shimosawa's directorial debut, having worked on TV show 'Ringer' and 'The Grudge' and brings some of those themes and styles to the movie. Unfortunately, the film's choppy editing and inconsistent pace leaves you in confusion for much of the film.

'Equals' Film Trailer Preview

From the company that brought us 'Ex Machina', 'Enemy' and 'Room', comes another interesting sci-fi movie.

'Equals' stars Kristen Stewart and Nicholas Hoult in a futuristic totalitarian society without emotions, but when their characters fall in love due to a new disease, risk everything in order to escape to be with each other.

The teaser gives little away but looks to be a stylish affair, with hints of 'The Island', 'Equilibrium' and a typical romantic drama mix. Despite the average to low reviews, 'Equals' still looks to be an interesting one to watch.

The film will be released this Summer. Check out the trailer below:

'Our Brand is Crisis' Film Review

I have finally seen the long awaited Sandra Bullock movie 'Our Brand is Crisis'. Following a string of powerful roles including 'The Blind Side', 'Gravity' and 'Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close', Bullock's first film in two years had my expectations way high.

Calamity Jane (Sandra Bullock), a self-retired political strategist, is lured back into the game when a Bolivian presidential candidate is failing in the polls, knowing that her nemesis Pat Candy (Billy Bob Thornton) is helping the opposition.

Despite a gruelling start, Jane finds her fire once again and goes to extreme lengths to win, using her charm, wit and devious tactic.

Glasgow Photography

So the site for my upcoming studio project will be in Glasgow and last week, we took a whirlwind trip up North to the largest city in Scotland. The urban grid was fascinating and so are the historical city remnants, materiality and new developments.

The weather was luckily glorious on our second day and I managed to capture some cool photos focusing on architecture features and details.
