'Birdman' Film Review

Having already swooped up 128 awards and counting, 'Birdman' is set to be the front runner in the upcoming Oscars race with its nine nominations. But what makes this film so unique?

Centred on a washed up actor Riggan (Michael) who was popular years ago as a fictional hero 'Birdman', the film chronicles the three days before his new Broadway show opens. Trying to revive his career whilst juggling family at the same time, Riggan hears voices which at times drives him out of control.

When his lead actor who suffered an injury is replaced by Mike (Edward Norton), the attention is shifted onto him, who also has an interest in his daughter Sam (Emma Stone) although is already with fellow actress Lesley (Naomi Watts). With everything on the line, will Riggan's new play be a hit or will he lose absolutely everything?

'Enemy' Film Review

Based on the novel 'The Double' by Jose Saramago, not to be confused with the other movie 'The Double' starring Jesse Eisenberg, 'Enemy' is one of the most underlooked movies in the past year, partly due to the lack of promotion and the sporadic release dates (premiered in Sep 2013, but only just made its way to UK screens).

History teacher Adam Bell (Jake Gyllenhaal) lives a mundane life, teaching about the cyclical nature of dictatorship and oppression. When a fellow teacher recommends him a movie to watch to cheer him up, Adam discovers an actor called Anthony Claire (also Gyllenhaal) within that looks exactly like him and is determined to find out who it is and the life that they live.

'Ex Machina' Film Trailer Preview

From the writer of '28 Days later' and 'Never Let Me Go', Alex Garland, comes his directorial debut in what looks to be a gripping examination of human nature and technology.

Starring rising star Alicia Vikander as advanced AI Ava alongside Oscar Isaac and Domhnall Gleeson, the trailer is sublime in offering purely the essence of the movie. 'Ex Machina' is rife with questions of humanity, what is real and who to trust, set in what looks to be a dark, somewhat violent and graphic thriller.

The film is due out this month in the UK, and in April in the US. Check out the trailer below:

The Golden Globes 2015 Red Carpet

The Golden Globes kicks off the awards season once again, with gongs going to both TV and film categories. The red carpet was alight with sparkle and shine with this year's best dressed which includes Jessica Chastain in Versace (nominated for A Most Violent Year), Emma Stone in Lanvin (Birdman) and Anna Kendrick in Monique Lhuillier.

Unfortunately, the usually uber-chiq Keira Knightley looked frumpy in her butterfly Chanel gown, and Rosamund Pike epically outshone Emily Blunt with her Vera Wang dress.

Eddie Redmayne, Matt Bomer and Benedict Cumberbatch also attended, leading the awards race for the men.

Check out more red carpet and results after the jump:
