America's Next Top Model Cycle 22 Episode 1,2 and 3 Recap

So America's Next Top Model Cycle 22 has been back for three weeks now. And for three weeks I've been waiting for something not even spectacular, just interesting to happen... and I guess it finally has. Given that this cycle they chose to drag out the audition episode for not one, not two, but three whole weeks; I'm at least glad that finally we have some finalists.

But first up, what's new? Tyra's cute short hair do, ANTM's first deaf contestant, Nyle and a girl who quit before she even made the final cut.

In essence, the first two episodes saw a bunch of young things scrambling about being very loud, before we finally got the final 14 at the start of episode 3, and by then, it was clear this cycle was all about the drama.

First up, Devin and Bello's rivalry. Both are super annoying. One, a loud mouthed, hyperactive drama queen. The other, an arrogant, strangely feminine, crown wearing, 'blue eyed' faker. I dislike them both, but Devin probably is the most annoying person on ANTM. EVER. But no doubt, the producers will keep them in for as long as they can provide the drama.

Next is Mikey's craving for female company which sees him and Courtney (who has a boyfriend) get close, only for him to ruin it with an offhanded comment, and quickly revealed his rather aggressive personality.

And then we have Hadassah who constantly sees Mame as her pageant rival, and yet gets stumped her her every time.

After two episodes of cheap photo shoots, the third finally brought something worth evaluating. The models were paired and entangled in different types of wires. Despite the awful 'no neck monster' teach, some of the photos were not too bad...

Compositionally, I thought Bello/Lacey, Mame/Justin and Mikey/Courtney did the best working together.

Unfortunately for Stefano, Hadassah, Nyle and Delanie, they just lost the connection and it didn't work... There seemed to be some good moments, but just overall, didn't create anything spectacular.

The judges also seemed to really liked Devin's photo. Yes, he has really interesting features, but he is just soooo annoying.

In the end, the first call out goes to...

Devin (urgh) followed by Justin and Lacey. In the bottom two are Stefano and Delanie. In the end, Delanie goes- which is the right decision- she was kind of forgettable.

After three episodes, I think the contestants quite easily fit into two camps for me- love or hate... so this cycle I'm most rooting for:

Nyle- he's just too adorable... and his voice double has such a nice voice... but shame about the looks :P

Let's see what the rest of the cycle brings, but for sure, there's bound to be a LOT of drama.
