Peter Quill (Chris Pratt) is abducted the night his mother died, becoming a thief for a group known as the Ravagers. When he comes across a strange orb, wanted by Kree Ronan (Lee Pace) for intergalactic takeover, he becomes the subject of a wild chase, joined by Kree traitor and assassin Gamora (Zoe Zaldana), a tree Groot (Vin Diesel) and a scientific experiment Racoon Rocket (Bradley Cooper).
'Guardians of the Galaxy' throws you straight into the action with pacy sequences and snappy dialogue. Humour is the key piece that sets this movie apart from anything else like it, with Pratt's Quill occasionally dancing spontaneously, backed by the film's soundtrack, also Quill's Awesome Mix Vol 1, as seen in the movie.
Though the flow of the movie is primarily linear, the two hours fly by. The unfortunate predictability of all the twists and turns result in a lack of surprise, but the movie is nonetheless filled with fun and energy. At times, the film is so serious on not being serious that you just can't help but just enjoy it, and it does it so well.
Ending in true Star Trek fashion, the 'Guardians' of the Galaxy will embark on their next adventure in 2017.
