In these recent test shots by Jason Gilmore & Jonah Gilmore, Hannah looks phenomenal and extremely high fashion. She has definitely matured her modelling ability. Can't wait to see her land something BIG!

London 2012: The Olympic Opening Ceremony

Whilst I may be too busy to watch the Olympics themselves, who could miss the Opening Ceremony? Having been wowed by the Beijing show four years ago, I was not expecting much from the London offering and was rather embarrassed seeing what was happening 5 minutes before it began- it looked like a mess. Thankfully, once the show started, things began to pick up and it turned out to be a pretty interesting one. 

The moment I saw Daniel Craig I questioned whether this would just be a parade of British celebrity. We did have Mr Bean (Rowan Atkinson), Emilie Sande, Paul McCartney and David Beckham all take part in the show- I personally wished Adele would have wowed the stadium with her voice but we were not so lucky.

London 2012: The Olympic Cauldron by Thomas Heatherwick

All eyes were on London this weekend when the Olympics 2012 officially began with a beautiful opening ceremony which was ended with the lighting of the phenomenal lighting of the Olympic cauldron designed by Thomas Heatherwick.

Featuring 204 (one per participating country) copper petals which rose to hold the Olympic flame, it was well worth the wait after over an hour of athletes pouring in country by country. This was definitely a highlight of the opening ceremony.

'Cloud Atlas' Film Trailer Preview

Based on the best selling book by David Mitchell, 'Cloud Atlas' spans space and time to tell several different stories and how actions affects the past and future...

Starring Tom Hanks, Halle Berry, Hugo Weaving, Jim Sturgess and Hugh Grant, the film has been highly anticipated and some already expect it to be phenomenal. Having seen the trailer, it definitely looks like an epic mindbending story and maybe I should read the book in time for the film's release! 

The film will debut at the Toronto Film festival and will be released in October. Check out the 5 minute trailer below:

Marion Cotillard in Vogue (August 2012)

 

Covering the August issue of Vogue, Oscar winner Marion Cotillard is shot by Peter Lindbergh. The French actress looks stunning in the Burberry coat and Alexander McQueen dress. 

Reunited with direction Christopher Nolan in this Summer's hit blockbuster, 'The Dark Knight Rises', Marion has previously worked with him in 'Inception'. Marion is gaining international appeal having recently starred in 'Contagion' alongside Matt Damon and Kate Winslet, as well as working with Woody Allen in his Oscar nominated 'Midnight in Paris'.

'Big Miracle' Film Review

Having seen the trailer to this family film, I was quite excited to see it as it looks like a meaningful and heartwarming film with a great cast, and indeed it was.

~~~THOUGHTS ON PLOT~~~
Based on a true story, aspiring news reporter Adam Carlson (John Krasinski) discovers three whales trapped in ice during his stay in Alaska. With his footage released nationwide, Greenpeace worker Rachel Kramer (Drew Barrybore), also Carlson's ex, fights to mobilise the national guard in order to save them.

With only several days before the ice will freeze over, the story goes international and the local Inupiat people must work with everyone else in order to keep the whales alive until a rescue could made, uniting people from all walks of life.

Jane By Design Season 1 Episode 17 (The Sleepover) Recap

Home alone, Jane and Billy decide to throw a party, but when they hear Harper's also throwing a party, it looks like it will flop. Zoe is upset with Billy for sleeping over at Jane's for the past week and bans him from doing so anymore.

Billy tries to make things right by allowing Nick to rejoin the school play but Zoe sees through his ploy. After announcing that no parents will be at the party, everyone decides to go to Jane's. 

At work, the Harrod's deadline is fast approaching and without Jeremy's designs, the collaboration will fail. Jeremy calls Jane from London to apologise but nothing more. After telling Gray, she is assigned to fly to London to convince him.

'Life of Pi' Film Trailer Preview

The Full length trailer to Ang Lee's upcoming film adaptation of 'Life of Pi' has been released.

Based on the best-selling book by Yann Martel, the film is about a shipwrecked boy's survival journey in a boat with a tiger. The trailer definitely makes it look more glamorous then it is as the book was rather gritty and even gory at times. 

The film will be out this December. Check out the trailer below:

Owl City & Carly Rae Jepsen 'Good Time' Music Video

The video to Owl City's latest single 'Good Time' featuring Carly Rae Jepsen of pop smash 'Call Me Maybe' has been released.

Upbeat and perfect for the Summer, 'Good Time' is catchy and addictive and the video features the two having a great time in the woods. The song is on Owl City's upcoming album, 'The Midsummer Station', out next month.

Roxanne Emery 'Live in London' EP Album Review

After seeing Roxanne Emery live in April, I was excited when she announced she would be releasing a live EP, knowing how spectacular her voice is live.

Featuring two songs from her new EP 'Turn Back', two covers and the iconic 'Cold Heart', the album is extremely varied and the song choices were great. Although I would've loved for her to have included 'Build a Home', I'm expecting this to be on the upcoming album. :)

'Cold Heart' and 'Pick the Rose' are delightful live, the emotion is present and genuine. The highlight for me is definitely 'One Thing Remains', which has been a favourite of mine for a while and to hear Roxanne cover it was sheer perfection!

Thanks Roxanne for continually releasing new music and I cannot wait for the album and the next concert!

'The Dark Knight Rises' Film Review

One of the most highly anticipated films of the year, 'The Dark Knight Rises' is the ultimate conclusion to Christopher Nolan's Batman trilogy. For the last six months, we have bared witness to trailer after trailer and a gazillion different posters and promo material. No doubt, this must be the most hyped movie of 2012 and it has finally arrived.

Upon hearing it would be shown in IMAX, I was desperate to grab those tickets as I've never seen a film in IMAX before. Entering the cinema, I was extremely excited for the upcoming 164 minutes, over 60 of which were shot exclusively for IMAX, bringing that extra on-screen WOW. 

Eight years after the events of 'The Dark Knight', Bruce Wayne (Christian Bale) goes into hiding, but when cat burglar Selina Kyle (Anne Hathaway) warns him of an oncoming storm and terrorist warlord Bane (Tom Hardy) plots to destroy Gotham, he must don the mask and once again be the symbol of hope that Gotham desperately needs.

Action packed and loaded with firepower, the fight sequences, car chases and explosive action was delightful to watch and the whole floor vibrated as the sound booms out of the speakers, as if we were engulfed by the blast. It was a cinematic experience at the very least.

Platform of Arts and Creativity by Pitagoras Arquitectos

Designed by Pitagoras Arquitectos, the Platform of Arts and Creativity located in Portugal is a striking piece of architecture. Contrasting with the local character, the building is extremely modern in comparison both inside the out. 

The gold and black facade has wonderful detailing, whilst internally the black is contrasted with a minimalistic white design.

Shot by Joao Morgado, the photos reflect the elegance of the design in a sublime way.

Jane by Design Season 1 Episode 16 (The Backup Dress) Recap

At work, Jane is assigned with the important mission of looking after a dress for Nina Garcia which will be picked up the next day.

Eli finally asks Jane out on their first date and Jane finally gets to wear the dress she's been working on for months. Taking it to school with her so she can change before their date, it predictably goes missing as she's working with her mother making costumes for the school play; it gets mistaken for Cinderella's dress. 

Joseph Gordon Levitt in GQ Magazine (August 2012)

Upcoming young actor/director/producer Joseph Gordon Levitt covers the August Issue of GQ Magazine. The 'Inception' and '500 Days of Summer' star dons three piece suits for the British fashion inspired spread. 

Looking dapper as usual, Levitt can be seen in the Summer Blockbuster 'The Dark Knight Rises' and 'Looper' and is also currently filming Don Jon's Addiction opposite Scarlett Johansson.

'The Dark Knight Rises' New York Premiere

The Dark Knight Rises premiered in New York last night and was attended by the cast of the film which included Anne Hathaway, Christian Bale, Tom Hardy, Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Marion Cotillard. The two female leads chose to wear white dresses, with cute Anne Hathaway donning her new pixie cut from her latest film 'Les Miserables'. 

The film has already begun to receive positive reviews and will be on general release this Friday! I CAN'T WAIT to see it in IMAX!!!

Possession Film Review

Suffering from some 'Ringer' withdrawal, I decided to watch this thriller starring Sarah Michelle Gellar in hope of being relieved.

~~~THOUGHTS ON PLOT~~~

Whilst taking on Roman's assault case, lawyer Jess (Sarah Michelle Gellar) meets and later gets married to his brother Ryan (Michael Landes). After his release from prison, Roman (Lee Pace) comes to live with the couple after being rejected by his father.

Upon overhearing Jess complaining about him, Roman flees the next day and as Ryan tries to find him, the two get into a car accident, resulting in both entering into a coma. As Roman wakes up, all his memories are Ryan's, as if he has been possessed. Will Jess accept this new Roman? Or wait for Ryan who may never wake up?

Apart from his VMAN cover, Andrew Garfield can also be seen to cover GQ, Nylon, IQ and Teen Vogue in the Summer months. The British star's  latest blockbuster role as the new Spider Man is garnering up positive reviews and looks like he will be super busy as the film is lined up to be a trilogy!

Oz The Great and Powerful Film Trailer Preview

From the producers of 'Alice in Wonderland' comes another unsurprising adaptation of 'The Wizard of Oz'. 

The trailer to the renamed 'Oz, the Great and Powerful' features many of the cinematic aspects featured in 'Alice' and also 'Snow White and the Huntsman', being consistent in style and hopefully quality.

Featuring an all star cast which includes, Mila Kunis, Rachel Weisz, Michelle Williams and Zach Braff, James Franco leads as Oz, a magician who discovers the land of Oz and presumably upon destroying the powers of darkness, came to become the ruler.

Memento Film Review

I don't know why I've been putting off seeing this for such a long time. From the director of 'Inception' and the upcoming 'The Dark Knight Rises', 'Memento' was his first critically acclaimed movie.

Starring Guy Pearce as Leonard, a man on the hunt after the person who brutally murdered and raped his wife. Having lost his short term memory after the incident, Leonard must piece together the clues using photographs, notes and by tattooing them on his body.

Revealed to the audience in reverse, the movie is brilliantly tense and deceptive. At first, you are left confused and trying to piece together the parts of the puzzle yourself, but as the film progresses, the pace heightens and you begin to grasp the plot and begin asking questions yourself, as if the film was a mystery in itself.

Jane By Design Season 1 Episode 15 (The Online Date) Recap

With news that Beau is engaged, Jane's mum sets up a dating profile for Gray. Upon bumping into Tamara, Gray's job is on the line and India uses this to lure the two together again through the dating website by inviting Tamara and posting a hit on Gray's page.

At school, Amanda's play is casting and Zoe auditions for the lead role. Rita tries to compete with Amanda by dressing up- she looked stunning imo- but ultimately loses out. Jane tells her to be herself but Lulu tells her she needs to step up her game.

Milan Trade Fair by Studio Fuksas

 

Having recently seen the stunning glass facade of the MyZeil Shopping Centre, this trade fair by the same team, Studio Fuksas does not fail to impress. The magnificent glass roof structure here brings in a beautiful lighting quality and is as dynamic as expected.

The mirroring of the water feature is also beautiful and creates a mesmerising atmosphere.

Contagion Film Review

Having strangely loved classic pandemic film 'Outbreak' in the past, I was extremely excited for 'Contagion' a film seemingly dealing with the same issues, but with a much more diverse and modern take.

After a business trip to Hong Kong, Beth Emhoff (Gwyneth Paltrow) becomes ill and subsequently dies. The unknown disease starts to spread all across the world and a pandemic strikes. 

What will Beth's husband Mitch (Matt Damon) do to protect his daughter? What are the doctors (Kate Winslet, Marion Cotillard) willing to sacrifice in order to find the origin and the cure? And what does one influenza blogger Alan (Jude Law) think about the whole thing?

Entoptic Phenomena by William Hundley

 

Titled 'Entoptic Phenomena', photographer William Hundley has created a series of fascinating imagery using fabric and placing them in a dramatic, emotive and sculpted composition. The duality with other objects, contrast and shape has been clearly developed, the striking results being extremely evocative.

This Means War Film Review

'This Means War' was one of those films that I really looked forward to watching because I thought it had a great mix of action and comedy, and from the trailer, appeared to be stylishly funny, but did it live up to my expectations?

Having given up everything for a guy in the past, Lauren (Reese Witherspoon) is reluctant to get back into the dating world, so her friend sets up a profile for her on a dating site. After a great first date with Tuck (Tom Hardy), she meets FDR (Chris Pine) who is equally charming and cannot decide between the two. 

Little does she know, not only do they know each other, but are best friends. And are FBI agents. And will use all the resources they can to win her over. May the best man win.
