America's Next Top Model Cycle 19 Episode 6 Recap

This is gonna be a quick recap cos I have a super busy weekend :3 So Nastasia gets best photo and shares the Tyra suite with Kiara. The girls talk about Leila's shock elimination and Brittany and Yvonne both thought Bryanboy was being super rude for shaking his head and revealing his liking for Leila, which made Brittany really upset.

Yvonne is getting the -go home- edit right now... with her talking on the phone and girls talking about her. BUT she has cleverly pointed out in her phone call how she thinks the show is treating them like 'products' and she doesn't like it- that's Top Model for you!!

The girls' challenge is to record a segment as a video game character for Uncharted 3, and the winning performance will get featured in the game. The girls real life movement will be transformed into the video game. This is pretty cool!!

So Laura did the best in my opinion, and Yvonne and Victoria were pretty bad, but it was a hilarious challenge to watch. In the end, the winner is... Laura!

The challenge scores are:

Nastasia and Victoria are in the bottom? :( Noooo they better NOT GO HOME.

For the photoshoot this week, the girls will be shot in vintage clothing alongside an owl, which Kristin admitted to being scared of backstage. Yvonne gets frustrated and impatient and blows a raspberry during her shoot as they want to change her dress and Bryanboy just went in on her, but Yvonne totally had the upperhand and made him look soo stupid. GO YVONNE. Hating this bryanboy.

So Laura did amazingly, Brittany did well... Victoria was in character but her face didn't seem to be there. Yvonne clears the air between her and Bryanboy.

At panel, Victoria gets an average shot, but Kelly likes her so obviously gave her an 8, and the others gave a 6 and a 7. Kristin has a great face but her body is stiff. Nastasia gets a 7 and a 5 from Kelly and Rob and Tyra CLEARLY is bumping up her score by giving her a 9... and given we know the challenge scores, I feel like Nastasia is safe given she has a good fan base... so maybe Victoria will be going home?

Yvonne gets an ok shot but gets a low score (so hopefully she goes instead of Vic), Allysa has a nice shot. Brittany gets a good shot- not a big fan of her jaw line (she has a Hannh Jones face shape) and needs to work her angles, but it is a strong shot and gets a 6,9,10 (first call out VS Laura?).

Laura's shot is stunning and I do agree it's better than Brittany's- she gets a 10 all round. So it's pretty obvious Laura will get first call out followed by Brittany... but who will go? Will it be Yvonne? Victoria? Nastasia?

The girl with the best score this week is...

Allison Harvard in We The Urban Magazine Issue #5

Allison Harvard is featured in We The Urban Magazine Issue #5, shot by Zachary Chick and styled by Allison herself. With a vintage photography style and Allison's trademark quirk, the spread is brilliantly artistic and cinematic.

Allison recently flew to the Philippines for the Bench Universe fashion show, walking alongside Cycle 18 Winner Sophie Sumner and fellow All-Star contestant Dominique Reighard.

Paint Mesh Sculptures by Alois Kronschlaeger

"My work exists at the intersection of art, architecture, fashion and design. My forms are surreal and my materials simple, in the tradition of earlier artists such as Frederick Kiesler and Buckminster Fuller. I create site-specific installations and sculptures, which demonstrate a preoccupation with environment and light, as well as an interest in exploring time and space via geometry." - Kronschlaeger

The work is extremely mesmerising in the contrast between solid form and fluid movement. The materiality is technically heavy, but the treatment is light and organic. The addition of colour transforms the piece with great dynamism.

Department of Islamic Arts, Louvre by Mario Bellini Architects

shot by Philippe Ruault.
The New department of Islamic art has been unveiled in Paris. Designed by Mario Bellini Architects, the subterranean building features a suspended undulating glass roof.

It was interesting to have seen it in construction on my recent trip to Paris, and now it has been completed. The roof is extravagant and well detailed, mirroring the pyramid in the other courtyard.

'Promised Land' Film Trailer Preview

The trailer for Oscar contender 'Promised Land' has just been released.

Starring Matt Damon and John Krasinski, the film tells of a natural gas salesman (Damon) who tries to exploit a small town's resources, but discovers it is not as easy as it seems when a few of the locals object. Having seen and spoken to the people living there, a conflict of interest arises between his company and the locals. Who's side will he be on?

The trailer definitely looks powerful and geared to garner up those award nominations, and the film will be released early 2013.

'Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close' Film Review

Sandra Bullock's first film in two years after her Oscar win for 'The Blind Side', 'Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close' was also a strong award contender, being nominated for two Academy Awards (Best Motion Picture, Best Supporting Actor).

Nine year old Oskar Schell (Thomas Horn) suffers from aspergers and has always been close to his dad (Tom Hanks) who sends him on missions, getting him to talk to people. When his father dies in the 9/11 bombings, he is heartbroken and lost, until he finds a key his father left behind.

Determined to find the lock the key fits, Oskar travels across Manhattan asking everyone with the name 'Black' (which was written on the back of the envelope) to prolong the connection he has with his father.

America's Next Top Model Cycle 19 Episode 5 Recap

So Laura gets best call out last week and decides to pick Kristin for the Tyra Suite instead of Leila who picked her a few weeks back. Tyra brings Alicia Keys to the house to tell the girls they will be participating in a charity fashion show for her charity 'Keep a Child Alive'.

The girls do a very silly and time-wasting impromptu runway practice themed on Alicia's songs -lame... and then Tyra reveals that the girls will need to be in charge of their own hair and make up as well as styling. Since Laura got the first call out, she will be in charge and has control over these things. The clothes they wear will be on auction and the girl who raises the most money wins the challenge (basically, whoever gets assigned the nicest outfit wins- their runway walk will do only ever so much...)

The winner gets to pick a friend and go to Alicia's concert for her new album 'Girl on Fire', which is also the theme of the charity fashion show... umm... riding 'The Hunger Games' wave much?

Laura struggles to delegate and come up with anything solid and when quizzed by Kelly backstage, looked totally flustered. Anyway, the results weren't anything that amazing and I thought the theme was not at all evident in the hair, make up or styling. Only the glitter on the stage had any ounce of being on fire.

The walks were ok... I liked Brittany but everyone else was just a bit blah. Victoria, Laura and Kiara were the three girls that apparently stood out, but the winner is Kiara, who picks Nastasia (who looks great in her outfit btw).

The challenge scores are:

The girls return to the house and the drama between Leila and Laura continues in a semi confrontation in which both girls end up crying so I don't even know what it was... it wasn't a fight it was just some girl emotional outbreak.

For the girls' photoshoot this week, they're gonna be cheerleaders thrown into the air by topless male models.

Yvonne had trouble being caught by the models but she looked good in the air. Alyssa, with her low challenge score is relying on a good photo to stay and even hit one of the models on the head as she landed, drawing blood.

Laura, who is afraid of heights, is getting the eliminated girl edit (so much screen time- NOOO!!) and again talks about her being afraid if she can pull it off. Nastasia looked great, Kristin did well and Victoria got some good feedback.

At panel, Victoria gets a good photo, Leila's body is great but her face and neck are horrible. I didn't like Kiara's photo and Kelly gave her some bad comments but yet gave her a score of 8 (favouritism much?) and she got an overall score of (8,8,7).

Kelly and Rob raged over Kristin but Tyra doesn't see a model. I liked her photo, especially her face but her body isn't that great. She got a score of (10, 9, 6). Brittany's shot was horrible and gets a (6,6,6).

Nastasia's shot is really cool, fearless. She got an (8, 9, 10). I actually think Yvonne's photo looks amazing, probably one of my favourites this week!

Laura's photo was OK, a similar pose to Nastasia, but more broken but with a messy face. The judges ate it up though and she got a (9,9,6).

In the end, the girl with the highest score and the best call out this week is...

'The Vow' Film Review

After seeing the trailer for this movie, I was pretty keen on seeing this given the lovely Rachel McAdams stars in what appears to be the romantic movie of the year with a dramatic twist.

Madly in love newlyweds Paige (Rachel Mcadams) and Leo (Channing Tatum) end up in a tragic car crash where Paige loses the past four years of her memory, forgetting she ever dropped out of law school, pursued a career in art and having fallen in love and married Leo.

Torn between the life she remembers and the married life she can't recall, Paige is like a completely different person and Leo is desperate to help her remember and make her fall in love with him all over again.

Offices for Junta de Castilla y Leon by Estudio Arquitectura Campo Baeza

This office design by Arquitectura Campo Baeza for Junta de Castilla y Leon in Spain is a beautiful glass box enclosed by sleek stone walls. The greenhouse like building reflects the sky and is one of the most transparent buildings I have seen.

Simple in style and minimalist in design, the modern design is camouflaged well by its enclosure. It really is quite stunning!

Keira Knightley in VOGUE Magazine (Oct 2012)

Keira Knightley covers the October issue of US Vogue. In the 10 page editorial shot by Mario Testino, the Anna Karenina star wears wonderfully elaborate couture gowns by Jacqueline Durran, Valentino and Dior, beautifully reflecting the elegance and dramatic fashion found in the Joe Wright Tolstoy adaptation.

Knightley's co-stars Jude Law and Aaron Johnson also featured in the spread.

America's Next Top Model Cycle 19 Episode 4 Recap

OK so Victoria got best photo this week and starts talking about her mom again... and I know I keep saying it but these girls really do look like hybrids of girls past.

Victoria - Nicole C13
Kristin- Chantal C9
Kiara- AngeleaC12/C14/C17
Yvonne- Seymone C18 + Alexandra C14
Darian- Chris+Terra C15
Destiny- Liz C15
Leila- Chelsea C15
Nastasia- Nik C5 + Jessica C14
Alyssa- ??? Help?
Laura- Kourtney C12 + Anya C10
Brittany- Nicole C5 +

Victoria doesn't pick ANYONE to share the Tyra suite with-  hmm... that's not very nice! But more drama ensures as Kristin delves into Destiny's back for a lighter [?] without asking which prompts the two girls to have a fight. Kristin tries to lure Destiny into hitting her so she would go home LOL!!!

Destiny doesn't take the bait and Nastasia calls her out for it... but meh... lame fight.

The girls' challenge this week is an acting challenge with Tyler Perry, where they have to embody a particular character- tourist, Hollywood diva, rap artist and street performer. So Victoria did an amazing job until she got fish and chips thrown at her!

What the girls don't seem to know is that the fan vote doesn't change based on their on screen performance...

Kiara was doing an Angelea- omg so alike- but did well. Leila struggled. Yvonne did well and she'll probably win. I'd like to have seen Brittany's performance! >:O

In the end, Kiara wins the challenge- getting 10,000 dollars for a scholarship (if she wins) and a walk on roll for a Tyler Perry production.

The challenge scores are:

For their photoshoot this week, the girls are on the set of 'War of the Worlds' for their zombie apocalype shoot, which is actually quite high fashion.

Victoria is safe as is Nastasia who is too posey. Kristin is NOT changing things up and just sat there looking pretty, laughing at times. Laura does a good job as does Leila. Destiny suffers- go home now?

You can tell who's working it even in a group shot that isn't aired- Laura and Leila are fierce.

At panel, Kiara's scores are slipping with a average photo, Brittany gets another great shot and a high score (8,8,9)- I loved her photo it had great character!

Victoria's shot was definitely too angelic and pretty- not aggressive enough. Destiny has another poor shot and is a likely contender to go home. Laura has yet another stunning shot and gets 9s all round. Tyra critiques her for having no neck.

Kristin gets a horrendous shot- she's literally just sitting there and a horrible score (why Tyra gave her a 7 is beyond me) and Kristin asks how she can 'not be pretty' which makes Tyra teach her about being 'ugly pretty' and results in the Allison Fish pose. <3 font="font">

Nastasia is literally just standing there but there is some micro-movement with her head. Not as strong as her other shots I don't think. Yvonne gets a bad shot and a bad score but her challenge score might save her... Bye Bye Destiny I think! And Laura/Brittany for best photo please?

In the end, the best call out goes to...
