Portrait Specimens by Michael Mapes

Michael Mapes creates intriguing portraiture and photography through a scientific and at times regimental way. By compartmentalising and treating his images as specimens, the method of showcasing his work is also quite clinical.

I love this type of work and the fragmentation/distortion reminds me of when I would use to cut up magazines and make crazy collages from the different facial parts. I think it's fantastic. It also reminds me of the work of David Adey, who works in a similar manner.
