Owl City 'Maybe I'm Dreaming' Album Review

Owl City's first full length album, 'Maybe I'm Dreaming' was independently released but after the success of 'Ocean Eyes' was commercially re-released. Despite being a few years old, the tracks are still catchy and resonate with today's musical sound.

1. On the Wing 5/5
2. Rainbow Veins 3.5/5
3. Super Honeymoon 3.5/5
4. Saltwater Room 4.5/5
5. Early Birdie 4/5
6. Air Traffic 4/5
7. The Technicolour Phase 4.5/5
8. Sky Diver 3/5
9. Dear Vienna 3/5
10. I'll Meet You There 3.5/5
11. This is The Future 5/5
12. West Coast Friendship 4/5

SONGS TO LOVE: On The Wing, The Saltwater Room, The Technicolour Phase, This is the Future
SONGS TO SKIP: None but a few begin to feel the same.

The opening track, 'On The Wing' is truly beautiful song and despite it being over five minutes long, I'm loving every second of it. Following this is a series of varied upbeat tracks and calmer tracks, all super strong, catchy and addictive, to note 'The Saltwater Room' and 'Air Traffic'.

'The Technicolour Phase' is one of my favourite tracks off the album with it's wondrous lyrics which include 'If you cut me I suppose I would bleed, the colours of the evening stars'- FANTASTIC!

After this, the rest of the album is unfortunately a bit forgettable bar 'This is the Future' which is instantly addictive and has a great hook and chorus. The album ends with 'West Coast Friendship', an upbeat and fun track which is a nice end to the album, but again I'd probably have liked to see 'This is the Future' close the record more.

Overall, for a debut album which has been independently released, it has done phenomenally well and it is no doubt that Adam Young's quirky lyrics and catchy sound is to be praised for it. I can't wait to hear his new album 'The Midsummer Station' and see what new sounds he brings to the table!
