Beijing based design firm Prechteck has designed an extension for the National Library of Austria. Located in Vienna, the extension features a wide range of facilities including a 1200sqm underground core exhibition hall, a smaller 600sqm multifunctional hall, creative studios, a restaurant and shops.
The design is described as "seamless", "melting" into the landscape surrounding it, including a nearby park and drop off lane.
The exterior looks nice, but the interiors are phenomenal; the way light comes through the crystalline surface. I like this seamless idea which hides a lot of the space underground, which is hidden and can be explored.
