Wrapping the World by Christo and Jeanne-Claude

Christo and Jeanne-Claude are extremely ambitious artists that have done some really stunning pieces all over the world. Using fabric, they wrap their chosen subject in  the most elegant and complimentary way, that doesn't detract or "cover up" the subject, but enhance the shape and forms.

Places the couple has wrapped include Pont Neuf Bridge Paris, The Museum of Contemporary Art in Chicago, The Reichstag in Berlin, Central Park in New York, a coast in Australia, several islands in Florida and lots more. They are currently working on wrapping a Pyramid in the UAE as well as covering the Arkansas River in Colorado.

The completion of such large scale works is not easy, and the pair complete many preliminary sketches, drawings and paintings to accompany the result, the work is ultimately sold to fund their next project. The fact that these two state they do not take commisions or requests, yet are able to exhibit all over the world is truly remarkable.

My favourites include the wrapped trees and the wrapped coastline. I cannot wait to see their future pieces of work.
