Isla Flotante by Pedro Reyes

Inspired by the symmetry of Echinacea and sea urchins, Pedro Reyes designed Isla Flotante for the bay of Caletilla, Acapulco. Made of fibreglass, the floating island is like a large donut with windows on the side. As a space people can inhabit, this organic structure features a pool at the bottom (perhaps the route of entry for swimmers) and an open dome top for light to enter.

The design is definitely interesting and I await to see its practical uses, although they would look quite alien floating in the middle of the ocean. I prefer my oceans clear... but nonetheless an exciting concept.
