Leaf Carving Art

I saw this a while ago but didn't think much of it, and now that my art project is relating to natural forms again, this is going to be useful and definitely something I'd like to explore. Leaf carving takes a lot of time (months!) and is achieved by slowly scraping at the top layer but keeping the veins intact...

I think the process is extremely dynamic and uses the properties of the leaves to great effect. I will attempt this process I think but if it doesn't work will recreate the appearance of this by other means such as printing...
