Michael Johansson's Compartmentalised Art

Michael Johansson is an artist whose works I can sum up in one word as compartmentalisation. The works are literally finding objects that fit into the right place and shoving them in, whether it is a found space or a made space, from tables, to chairs, to ladders to gaps in walls...

Of course it is not just a case of randomly stuffing things here and there, there is also the element of colour, form and texture. The objects chosen somehow fit perfectly and truly blend in a subtle and convincing way.

I wonder if Michael Johansson is any good at those crazy wooden cube puzzles...
